IFC takes U.S. on ‘Byzantium’

Ronan, Arterton star as vampires

IFC has acquired U.S. rights Neil Jordan to Neil Jordan’s vampire thriller “Byzantium,” starring Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton as immortals.

Deal was closed Tuesday at the Toronto International Film Festival, two days after the premiere at TIFF.

The script was penned by Moira Buffini and centers on a pair of female vampires on the run in a small English town with their history dating back to the 18th Century. Caleb Landry Jones, Daniel Mays, Jonny Lee Miller and Sam Riley also star.

“Byzantium”  is produced by Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen.

Jordan also directed 1994’s “Interview with the Vampire,” based on the 1976 Rice novel.

CAA and WME negotiated the deal with IFC
