GoDigital reaches for ‘Clouds’

Digital distribution company gets rights to Javier Bardem-produced doc

Digital distribution company GoDigital has picked up the rights to the documentary “Sons of The Clouds: The Last Colony,” which has its North American premiere at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival next week.

Pic is produced by Javier Bardem, Alvaro Longoria and Lilly Hartley and directed by Longoria of Morena Films. It will screen Sept. 13 in the  Mavericks section at Toronto.

“Clouds” will screen at the IFC Center in New York in mid-October, which will start a series of screenings around the country. GoDigital plans to release the pic in multiple territories  on multiple digital platforms.

“Clouds,” which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, features Javier Bardem and focuses on an unresolved conflict in Northern Africa where the de-colonization of the Western Sahara has displaced nearly 200,000 Sahrawi people to refugee camps.

WME Global represented the film in negotiations with the digital partners.
