Pic recounts Noel Coward's time in Vegas
Colin Firth will star as Noel Coward in BiteSize Entertainment’s dramedy “Mad Dogs and Englishmen,” a recounting of Noel Coward’s two weeks at The Desert Inn in Las Vegas in 1955.
Gene Kirkwood and Ross Elliot are producing via Kirkwood-Elliot. Deal was announced Saturday at Cannes, a day after the duo folded their banner into BiteSize Entertainment to serve as the exclusive feature film production arm of the new company run by Ron Bloom.
Willy Holtzman is penning the screenplay writer.
Firth is coming off well-regarded roles in “The King’s Speech” and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” He’s starring opposite Nicole Kidman in “The Railway Man,” followed by the West Memphis Three pic “Devil’s Knot.”
Firth is repped by CAA.
Columbia released an album, “Noel Coward at Las Vegas,” that contained the Desert Inn performances in what was his first appearance on the Las Vegas Strip.
