Cohen Media, Focus World plan ‘Attack’

Ziad Doueiri's pic to preem in Toronto before U.S. release next year

Cohen Media Group and Focus World are teaming for the U.S. and Canadian release of Ziad Doueiri’s “The Attack” next year.

“The Attack” will have world preem at the Toronto Film Festival. Cohen Media Group will be handling the theatrical release and DVD distribution and sales while Focus World will control all digital media and TV rights.

“The Attack” is produced by Jean Brehat, Rachid Bouchareb and John Wells. Film is a 3B Production, with Douri Film, UAG, Scope Pictures and Random House Films co-producing.

Story, adapted from Yasmina Khadra’s novel, was penned by Doueiri and Joelle Touma.

Ali Suliman stars as an Israeli-Palestinian surgeon in Tel Aviv whose picture-perfect life is turned upside down when he is told by the police that his wife, who was killed in a suicide bombing, was also the person responsible for the attack. He rejects their accusation, but his conviction is shaken when he receives a posthumous letter from her confirming her role.

Charles Cohen launched Cohen Media in 2008 and served as an exec producer on “Frozen River.” Projects released include “Farewell My Queen,” “The Awakening,” “Madoff,” “My Afternoons With Margueritte” and “Oranges and Sunshine.”

Focus World was launched last year as part of Focus Features’ multiplatform strategy.
