London Critics’ Circle Awards set for Jan. 20

Event to benefit U.K. charity Missing People

LONDON

The 33rd London Critics’ Circle Awards will take place on Jan. 20, and will benefit U.K. charity Missing People, it was announced Thursday.

The awards, which will be held at the British Film Institute’s BFI Southbank, are presented by the film section of The Critics’ Circle, which celebrates its centenary in 2013.

The ceremony will also be used to launch Missing People’s 20th anni.

The Critics’ Circle is the oldest organization of its kind in the world, with more than 400 members who work in the U.K. media as critics of drama, art, architecture, music, film and dance. The Film Section has more than 120 voting members working as film critics, journalists and broadcasters.

Big winners at the 2012 awards included “The Artist,” which won film of the year, helmer of the year for Michel Hazanavicius and actor of the year for Jean Dujardin, and “A Separation,” which received foreign language film of the year, screenwriter of the year for Asghar Faradi, and supporting actress of the year for Sareh Bayat.
