Producer to receive Raimondo Rezzonico lifetime achievement award
The Locarno Film Festival will fete U.S. producer Arnon Milchan with its Raimondo Rezzonico lifetime achievement award dedicated to producers who epitomize the fest’s indie ethos.
The prolific Milchan has shepherded more than 100 feature films over the past 25 years. He will hold a masterclass at the Swiss lakeside fest that will screen Martin Scorsese’s “The King of Comedy,” the restored version of Sergio Leone’s “Once Upon at Time in America” and Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil,” among the pics that established his standing as a producer.
Milchan’s New Regency, established in 1991, has produced a string of standout titles including “L.A. Confidential,” “Fight Club” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox.”
Rezzonico prize is named in memory of Locarno’s late president. Locarno fest runs Aug. 1-11.
