— The
Cinema Eye Honors for Nonfiction Filmmaking announced the five
nominees for its third-annual Cinema Eye Heterodox Award, “honoring a narrative film that
imaginatively incorporates nonfiction strategies, content and/or modes of
production.” The nominees are “Ceasar Must Die,” “Compliance,” “Museum Hours,” “No” and “An Oversimplification of Her Beuaty.” The previous winner was “Beginners.” The award will be presented at the Cinema Eye Honors for
Nonfiction Filmmaking on Jan. 9.

— Helen Mirren is the latest gala honoree to be selected by the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

— Amy Adams will receive the Cinema
Vanguard Award on Jan. 31 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
