‘Frankenweenie’ surges in animation honors

Disney was the only distributor to get more than one out of the eight animated feature nominees for this year’s 40th annual Annie Awards, while DreamWorks Animation’s “Dragons: Riders of Berk” was tops in TV with 10 nominations. 

The feature nominees were:

“Brave” (Pixar)
“Frankenweenie” (Disney)
“Hotel Transylvania” (Sony)
“Paranorman” (Focus)
“The Pirates! Band of Misfits” (Aardman)
“The Rabbi’s Cat” (GKids)
“Rise of the Guardians” (DreamWorks)
“Wreck-It Ralph” (Disney)

“Frankenweenie” is having a particularly good day, having won the New York Film Critics Circle honor for animation.
