Don Mischer to direct Oscars again

Helmer takes on show for third consecutive year

Don Mischer will direct the 85th annual Academy Awards, scheduled for Feb. 24.

The next Oscars will mark Mischer’s third consecutive year helming the broadcast. Last year’s Oscars received eight Emmy nominations.

Mischer also was a producer on the previous two Oscar ceremonies, with Bruce Cohen and then Brian Grazer.

“For a very long time, we had always hoped to work with Don Mischer,” said Oscar exec producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. ‘His talent and reputation are unsurpassed, and we’re so happy he will be our collaborator.”

Mischer also produces the Oscar red-carpet pre-show (with Charlie Haykel and Juliane Hare of Mischer Prods.) and the annual Governors Awards, in which he will combine efforts with Acad governor Cheryl Boone Isaacs.

“I am so very excited to be directing the Academy Awards again this year and to be working with creative producers like Craig and Neil,” Mischer said.
