Variety CES Summit to offer free, multilingual stream

Partnership with Ortsbo kicks off with Entertainment event

Variety’s Entertainment Summit Wednesday at CES in Las Vegas will stream for free via a new partnership with Ortsbo.

Variety has partnered with the digital broadcaster to deliver content through Ortsbo’s Live & Global platform, which allows viewers to watch events with multi-lingual closed captioning in more than 50 languages.

“It’s critical that Variety constantly evolves how we deliver our content to audiences, who are quickly embracing new platforms and digital experiences,” said Neil Stiles, CEO and president of Variety.

The CES programming beings at 10 a.m. PST Wednesday at Variety.com/CES.

Ortsbo CEO David Lucatch said the system “allows broadcasters around the world to engage their audiences regardless of the language that they broadcast in.”

Speakers at Variety’s Entertainment Summit include keynoter News Corp. chairman/CEO of News Digital Media Jonathan Miller, Warner Bros. prexy of digital distribution Thomas Gewecke, Yahoo exec VP of the Americas Ross Levinsohn, Facebook head of market development Matt Jacobson and Lori MacPherson, head of global product management at Walt Disney Studios.

Variety also will publish CES daily editions, distributed throughout the Las Vegas confab, Tuesday through Friday.

Many of Variety’s future conferences, events and summits will stream on Variety.com through Ortsbo.
