A little over a year after it launched in the U.S., music streaming service Spotify unveiled updated listener numbers on Tuesday, revealing that its paid subscriber base has surpassed 4 million.
The site’s total active audience, including both paid subscribers and free listeners, was pegged at 15 million.
Tuesday’s numbers were the highest yet for the Sweden-founded, London-based company, which now operates in 15 territories, most recently expanding into Oceania and Germany. In January, the company — which has developed something of a reputation for doling out stats in piecemeal fashion — announced a paid subscriber total of 3 million.
The national makeup of Spotify’s user base was not disclosed, though the company bragged earlier this month that American users had listened to more than 13 billion songs since Stateside launch and shared nearly 29 million sings through social networks.
