Russia’s CTC inks Sony deal

Bravia TVs, Blu-ray disc players to host catch-up service

BATUMI, GEORGIA — Russia’s leading television entertainment network CTC is to be available as a VOD catch up service via apps on Sony’s Bravia TVs, Blu-ray disc player and other home entertainment systems.

The deal, announced in Moscow Thursday, delivers apps for CTC channels — CTS, Domashny and Peretz — as well as its Videomore.ru portal.

The apps offer a catch up service for content on the company’s channels, as well as the entire Videomore.ru archive, which contains a selection of CTC Media’s content, including previously unaired shows, as well as third party titles, totalling more than 12,000 videos comprising around 6,000 hours of content.

Anna-Maria Treneva, CTC Media’s head of new media, said: “Smart TVs give us the opportunity to reach out to each and every viewer by combining television with the internet, while keeping all the advantages of the traditional television.”

Masayuki Shiotani, marketing director at Sony CIS, said: “We have put a lot of effort into the development of our audio-video entertainment services by creating a diverse collection of content for our international Sony Entertainment Network.”
