Netflix has hired Nina Wolarsky to its original programming team.
Wolarsky, who previously oversaw film at Smoke House, the Sony Pictures-based shingle jointly run by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, will be responsible for series production and development at the streaming service. She reports to Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix.
Wolarsky, who served as executive producer of Smoke House films including “Argo” and “Ides of March,” comes to Netflix as the company beefs up its original programming slate. In addition to the already released series “Lilyhammer,” Netflix has an adaptation of the BBC drama “House of Cards” and a revival of the Fox comedy “Arrested Development” among the projects in the pipeline.
Wolarsky isn’t the first programming executive with experience operating inside the production companies of A-list talent. Last year, Netflix hired Peter Friedlander, who came over from Tom Hanks’ shingle Playtone.
