Nerdist, Fangoria team on ‘Blood & Guts’

Duo to produce Web series on horror makeup for YouTube

Nerdist Industries and Fangoria magazine have paired to produce “Blood and Guts,” a Web series hosted by Anthrax founder Scott Ian that will stream on Nerdist’s YouTube channel.

In the series, Ian will meet with movie f/x artists to teach viewers how to create realistic-looking horror makeup.

“I’ve been neck-deep in blood and guts for the last 30 years playing in Anthrax,” Ian said, “so I couldn’t be more excited to be hosting a show called ‘Blood and Guts’ for you horror and metal fans.”

The Nerdist Channel launched on YouTube on April 2 and features nerd-centric content spanning comicbooks, videogames, movies and pop culture. Celebs on the channel include Neil Patrick Harris, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Rob Zombie, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Harry Knowles and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick. The Jim Henson Co., Broadway Video Entertainment and the Chernin Co. are also content partners.

Nerdist merged with GeekChicDaily last year, with Hardwick serving as founder and chief creative officer, while GeekChicDaily co-founder serves as CEO.

Fangoria has covered the horror genre through its magazine, website and other outlets since 1979. It also operates a film production and distribution division, comicbook arm and convention biz, and it produces the “Dreadtime Stories” series, hosted by Malcolm McDowell.
