Millennium Entertainment has picked up North American rights to Anthony Silverston’s 3D animated movie “Khumba,” with plans for a summer 2013 release.

Story follows a half-striped zebra who’s blamed for the lack of rain by the rest of his herd and sets out on a search for a legendary waterhole.

Story was written by Jonathan Roberts, Anthony Silverston and Raffaella Delle Donne. Stuart Forrest of Triggerfish Animation produced.

Voice cast includes Jake T. Austin, AnnaSophia Robb, Loretta Devine and Roger Jackson.

It’s the first animated release for Millennium Entertainment.

CMG closed the deal at the American Film Market. It has already sold international rights to VC Multimedia for Portugal; Film Pop for Turkey; Kino Swiat for Poland; Luxor for Russia (CIS); and Santo Domingo for Mexico.
