Lovefilm bows on Wii in U.K.

Streaming service gains access to 8 mil gamers

LONDON — Lovefilm launched its on-demand service on Nintendo’s Wii console in the U.K. Tuesday, bringing the streaming service to Blighty’s estimated eight million Wii users.

The Amazon-owned film and television subscription service will expand its reach into more homes and allow Wii users to select, instantly stream and watch unlimited movies and skeins from £4.99 ($8) per month. Lovefilm’s Instant service offers 5,500 titles, excluding PPV titles.

Lovefilm members with a Wii console are able to download the app from the Wii Shop Channel for free. The service is already available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Kindle Fire HD and iPad. It will also be available on Nintendo’s new HD home console, Wii U.
