Discovery Communications’ exec VP of digital media and commerce has ankled to become CEO of online video network Blip.Kelly Day, who will also join Blip’s board, will oversee the company’s next phase of growth for its advertising and distribution platforms. “Kelly brings a wealth of digital media experience to Blip and is uniquely qualified to lead the company’s continued growth. Her experience and expertise in building audiences and establishing deep distribution partnerships, aligns perfectly with Blip’s strategic vision of providing producers the opportunity to distribute and monetize their content as broadly as possible,” said Jeffrey Glass, managing director of Bain Capital Ventures and a Blip board member. “I couldn’t be more thrilled for the opportunity to lead Blip right now as they are on the very forefront of innovation in the digital space,” said Day. Blip gives viewers free access to a wide variety of original web content. It currently syndicates series to iTunes, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Roku, Verizon FiOS, TiVo and elsewhere. Blip, which shares advertising revenue with producers, said its series attract more than 330 million video views per month.
