Fincher's TV series set to begin production next month
Michael Kelly has been cast in the Netflix original series “House of Cards.”
The 26-episode pre-ordered series, from David Fincher, is based on a novel by author Michael Dobbs and a British miniseries about a spurned congressman (Kevin Spacey) who aims to take down the president.
Others already cast include Corey Stoll, Kate Mara, Kristen Connolly and Robin Wright.
“Cards” is Netflix’s big-budget attempt — production costs are estimated at $100 million — to continue their mark in original programming. “Lilyhammer,” starring Steve Van Zandt, recently premiered on the subscription service.
Filming is set to begin next month in Baltimore.
Kelly, a former Variety 10 Actors to Watch selection, can currently be seen in “Chronicle,” is filming “Now You See Me” with Woody Harrelson and Mark Ruffalo, and has a role in Zack Snyder’s Superman pic “Man of Steel,” due next year.
He is repped by Innovative Artists and Brian Liebman at Liebman Entertainment.
