Warner Bros. digital studio produces comedy
Hulu has lined up another original series, a laffer from scribe Liz Tuccillo.
“Paul the Male Matchmaker” is a 10-episode comedy series from Liz Tuccillo (“Sex and the City”) and Paul Bartholomew (“Mad Men”), who also stars.
“Matchmaker” is about a hopeless male matchmaker who has little to no affection for women, yet is determined to help them find a soul mate. It bows on Hulu Feb. 13, tying in with Valentine’s Day.
The series will feature appearances from familiar faces including Tony Hale (“Arrested Development”), Janeane Garofalo (“The Larry Sanders Show”), and Lisa Edelstein (“House”).
“Matchmaker” was produced by Warner Bros. Television Group Studio 2.0 — a digital-centric offshoot of the mothership studio — in association with Generate.
“With its commitment to original programming and fast-growing audience base devoted to quality programming, Hulu is the perfect platform for this unique comedy series,” said Craig Hunegs, executive VP of WBTVG.
In a bid to differentiate itself among digital programmers, Hulu has been licensing original material. Last month, it grabbed the half-hour political dramedy “Battleground” as its first scripted series.
