Google to offer over 600 titles through studio's Digital HD initiative
Google said Tuesday that it will offer more than 600 titles from 20th Century Fox on Google Play and YouTube in conjunction with the studio’s major new Digital HD initiative, rolling out today.
“Prometheus” is Fox’s first major film to be made available under the new program, three weeks ahead of the Blu-ray, DVD and video-on-demand release.
Soon to be available for purchase or rental via Google Play and YouTube will be TV series including “Family Guy,” “Glee,” “Modern Family” and “New Girls.” Pics available will include “X-Men,” “Ice Age: and “Black Swan,” said Jonathan Zepp, Google’s manager of TV and film content partnerships, on the video giant’s website. Fox had deals in place with other digital retailers including Amazon, iTunes and Walmart’s Vudu service.
“These new titles will be available first in the U.S., and we’ll be bringing them to more countries soon,” Zepp wrote. “We’re now working with all six of the major film studios and many independent studios to bring you the best new releases and your favorite classics to rent or own.”
