Exec will oversee company's 40 media properties

Digital media company EQAL has shuffled its management ranks, elevating Robert Weiss to chief operating officer.

Having joined the company just eight months ago as chief content officer, Weiss replaces Paras Maniar, who shifts to a new position, chief strategy officer and executive VP of corporate development. Maniar also remains on the board of directors.

A former producer and exec at Fuse and VH1, Weiss will oversee day-to-day operation of EQAL’s growing portfolio of over 40 media properties reaching 60 million consumers, including celebrity media networks for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Lauren Conrad and Bethenny Frankel.

In his time at the company, Weiss oversaw the growth of EQAL’s social media reach and content creation, and was responsible for the launch of u look haute, a fashion and beauty channel funded by YouTube that has had more than 2.5 million video views since its April debut.

Before joining EQAL, Weiss was CEO of Parkwood Media Ventures, a media incubator that launched businesses in TV, gaming, the Internet and wireless and mobile. He also was co-CEO of Buccieri & Weiss Entertainment, which produced more than 2,000 hours of programming.
