Dolby reveals deals at CES

Company links up with LL Cool J

While much of the attention at CES has been on improving picture, be it on TVs, tablets or smartphones, Dolby Labs is working to make sure sound quality keeps up.

Company will announce several deals Tuesday morning, two for its enhanced Dolby Digital Plus sound codec: First, that mobile video service HBO Go is to adopt Dolby Digital Plus to deliver content to web-connected TVs and Blu-ray players. Second, Samsung will use Dolby Digital Plus to support VOD store Acetrax for its Blu-ray players in Europe.

Also, online music community Boomdizzle Networks, co-founded by LL Cool J, is working with Dolby.

Dolby will provide tech help for LL Cool J’s CES demos and the company has provided LL Cool J with a Dolby-enabled laptop to ensure sound fidelity for tracks recorded with the Boomdizzle Virtual Studio.

Dolby is presenting an LL Cool J press conference Tuesday to discuss the Boomdizzle Virtual Producer Studio and the importance of sound quality.
