Digital Domain, the vfx and animation giant based in Venice, Calif., has tapped Jason Dowdeswell as head of production at its Vancouver, B.C. studio.
Dowdeswell is currently head of studio at Vancouver-based vfx studio Image Engine.
“Image Engine is in a solid place of stability after two years of infrastructure and development growth,” said Dowdeswell, who was originally hired to help implement those improvements.
In his new role, he is drawn to the scale of opportunity at DD.
“The potential of Digital Domain as a global media group is compelling for how far reaching their cross sector engagements seem to be and timely during an explosive age of digital content creation for all screen-based media platforms,” he said.
Prior to Image Engine, Dowdeswell was head of digital studio at CIS Vancouver and Rainmaker, and lead digital artist at Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco and Sony Imageworks in Vancouver.
Dowdeswell will start at Digital Domain in July.
