CES wraps up record-breaking confab

2012 gathering boasted largest number of attendees, exhibitors

The 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show wrapped up a record year on Friday with more attendees and exhibitor space than any other year.

According to the CEA, more than 153,000 people attended the massive consumer electronics confab this year, up from the previous record of 152,203 that attended in 2006. In 2011, 149,529 attended.

Hollywood’s representation at the show and its Entertainment Matters program is also expected to top the 9,000 that registered last year by a significant number, although final tallies aren’t yet disclosed.

The CEA has already scheduled CES 2013 for Jan. 8-11, once again in Las Vegas.

CES also said it set a record with 1.861 million net square feet of exhibit space used this year, up from 1.857 million net square feet in 2008. Taking up the space was over 3,100 exhibitors, up from the record 3,072 in 2008.
