Canada Film Centre launches innovation lab

Digital entertainment ideas groomed for success

The Canadian Film Centre has launched a business development lab intended to spur development of innovation in digital entertainment.

The ideaBOOST initiative will allow submissions relating to video, games, apps and mobile content receive votes from the public; the most popular ideas will be culled for a shortlist from which an expert panel will make 6-8 selections.

The winning submissions will undergo an intensive four-month process to help launch their creations with help from a board of advisors including Bruce Croxon, co-founder, Round13 Capital; Shawn Hardin, entrepreneur in residence, Bessemer Venture Partners; David Gale, executive VP, MTVX at MTV Networks, Paul Woolner founder, 4Sight Partners, and Andrew Bailey, chairman, North America, Proximity.

“With the necessary tools, strategic advice, and access to a global entertainment industry network, nothing will stop these promising digital entertainment players from taking their ideas to the next level.” said Ana Serrano, chief digital officer at CFC.
