Additions include 'Silence of the Lambs,' 'Dances with Wolves'
Amazon.com said Wednesday that it’s adding hundreds of movies and TV shows to its Prime catalog through a licensing deal with MGM. New offerings include features “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Dances With Wolves,” “Rain Man,” “The Terminator” and TV series “Stargate.”
“MGM offers one of the most distinguished catalogs in all of Hollywood,” said Brad Beale, director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon. He said the company is focused on adding more titles.
Prime Instant Video is Amazon’s video subscription service, which is looking to compete with rivals including Netflix. It offers more than 18,000 movies and TV shows available on the Kindle Fire or any device compatible with Amazon Instant Video.
