Kids shows court young Comic-Con crowd

'Tron: Uprising,' 'Phineas,' 'Aquabats,' 'Ninja Turtles' to make trek

There will be no shortage of kids programming at Comic-Con next month, with Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and The Hub, from Discovery Communications and Hasbro, all planning to push their more high-profile shows in San Diego.

• With “Tron: Uprising” having recently launched, Disney XD will hype the show with fans of the films, while trying to attract new viewers, with voice cast Elijah Wood and Bruce Boxleitner joining executive producer Charlie Bean (“The Powerpuff Girls,” “Samurai Jack”) and consulting producers Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz (“Once Upon a Time”) on a panel.

The cabler that targets younger males will also screen new footage of “Motorcity” and introduce upcoming series “Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja.”

Separately, Disney Channel will promote “Phineas and Ferb,” “Fish Hook,” and new series “Gravity Falls” and “Wander Over Yander” with panels with their creators and voice talent, with “Phineas and Ferb” co-creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh zeroing in on summer episode “Where’s Perry, Part 1.”

• Cartoon Network is bringing “Adventure Time,” “Annoying Orange,” “Ben 10,” “MAD,” “Regular Show” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Seth Green and Henry Winkler will promote cabler’s more adult programming on Adult Swim for shows “Robot Chicken,” “Black Dynamite and “The Venture Bros.”

• The Hub will focus on “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,” “The Aquabats Super Show,” “Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters,” “Transformers Prime” and “Dan Vs.”

Cabler will also have Curtis Armstrong, Dave Foley and Paget Brewster of “Dan Vs.;” Scott Wolf, David Sobolov of “Kaijudo,” “Transformers” Peter Cullen” and “My Little Pony’s” Tara Strong, Andrea Libman, Ashleigh Ball and Cathy Weseluck to meet with fans.

• The reboot of the animated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” TV show and “The Legend of Korra,” will headline the lineup of series Nickelodeon is taking. Jason Biggs, who voices Leonardo, Sean Astin (Raphael), Rob Paulsen (Donatello) and Greg Cipes (Michelangelo) will be among panelists that also include executive producer Ciro Nieli to discuss “TMNT,” while David Faustino, Janet Varney, P.J. Byrne, Seychelle Gabriel and Andrea Romano will join co-creators and exec producers Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko for the presentation of “The Legend of Korra,” on the same day.

Channel also will produce presentations for “T.U.F.F. Puppy,” “The Fairly OddParents” and “SpongeBob SquarePants,” with creators of the latter giving a sneak peek of the stop-motion holiday special, “It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!”

Castmembers and the show’s creators will also be on the floor San Diego Convention Center at the Nick booth to sign autographs, where the Power Rangers – Alex Heartman (Red Power Ranger), Najee De-Tiege (Blue Power Ranger), Brittany Pirtle (Yellow Power Ranger), Hector David Jr. (Green Power Ranger), Erika Fong (Pink Power Ranger) and Steven Skyler (Gold Power Ranger) – are set to appear.

Booth is also going to feature costumed characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Monkey Quest, Winx and T.U.F. F. Puppy and giveaways of promo items for the shows.
