Netflix taps WB alum to run marketing

Bennett joins as CMO as Netcaster faces heightened competition

Netflix has recruited another exec from Hollywood, tapping Warner Bros. veteran Kelly Bennett as chief marketing officer.

Bennett has spent the past nine years at WB, most recently as veep of interactive worldwide marketing for the motion picture arm. He previously ran digital marketing for the studio in Europe.

“Kelly has been a pioneer in developing incredible digital campaigns for some of the biggest box office hits in recent years,” said Netflix CEO Reed Hastings in announcing the appointment.

Netflix’s move to bring showbiz savvy to its marketing operation comes as the Netcaster faces heightened competition in the digital realm from Amazon, Hulu and other well-heeled rivals.

Bennett reports to Hastings.
