Stephen Barton, who was among the 58 people injured in the Aurora, Colo., theater shootings that left 12 people dead, appears in a new ad asking the presidential candidates how they plan to address gun violence. He urges Wednesday’s debate moderator — Jim Lehrer — to query the candidates about it.
“I was lucky. In the next four years, 48,000 Americans won’t be so
lucky, because they’ll be murdered with guns in the next president’s
term, enough to fill over 200 theaters,” Barton says in the ad.
The spot is from Mayors Against Illegal Guns, led by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.
