Attending Obama’s Speech: Not Like 2008

The turnout from industry donors to the Democratic National Convention is noticeably different than it was in 2008.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, who is among Obama’s biggest bundlers and supporters of a pro-Obama SuperPAC, is not here. Nor is Steven Spielberg. Their political adviser, Andy Spahn, made the trek.

Those spotted on the Founders level of the Time Warner Cable Arena, ringed by sky box suites, include Tennis Channel CEO Ken Solomon and the Capital Group’s John Emerson, co-chairs of Obama’s Southern California finance committee, attorney Dana Perlman and actor Barry Karas, Yolanda “Cookie” Parker, Noah Mamet and attorney Joseph Calabrese.

The delegates to the convention include Ashley Judd and Thora Birch. Paris Barclay, who also is a delegate, could not make it to Charlotte, having a directing commitment.

Also spotted here: Roz Wyman, Democratic party stalwart, along with Jean Picker Firstenberg, former CEO of the American Film Institute.
