Dealmakers Impact Report 2012: Up Next

“We do a lot of financing work with various lenders, especially for key clients like Lionsgate,” says Spicer, who represented Comerica Bank in the negotiation and documentation of single-picture loans with Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate for “Step Up Revolution,” “Good Deeds,” “The Last Stand” and “Red 2.” Other high-profile deals included financing the mega-franchise “Twilight Saga,” repping Comerica in connection with various financings for Annapurna Productions, and handling UAE-based film and media outfit ImageNation in its partnerships with producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald. Spicer also did some work for “Looper” producer Endgame Entertainment and repped Union Bank in the financing of the first “Hunger Games” blockbuster. He also represented Union and Comerica as co-administrative agents in financing the sequel, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” “We understand their business model,” he says.

The next decade: “To utilize our firm’s expertise in international finance, media and distribution, as well as our access to capital to represent more international filmmakers and emerging production companies.”
