AFTRA creates Hurricane Sandy fund

Org creates fund to help members with recovery

The AFTRA Foundation has created a $50,000 fund to support active SAG-AFTRA members in their recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The fund will be administered by the Actors Fund in New York, with grants of up to $1,000 made.

“This is the type of work the foundation is devoted to and was designed for,” said SAG-AFTRA co-president Roberta Reardon. “We are grateful to all who support us and to the Actors Fund for partnering with us. Our members are strong, talented, generous people. We are proud of them and their resilience and honored to be able to help in this time of need.”

On Tuesday, the Screen Actors Guild Foundation announced it had partnered with the Screen Actors Guild Motion Picture Players Welfare Fund to create a Superstorm Sandy Emergency Assistance Fund for SAG-AFTRA members affected by the recent hurricane. The orgs have provided $100,000 each.
