Uma Thurman will join the cast of the NBC midseason drama “Smash” for a five-episode arc.The veteran film actress will play a difficult movie star who considers joining the musical depicted in the series. The addition of Thurman should give an added dose of buzz to a series that could get a lot of attention once it premieres on Feb. 6. “Smash” will benefit from having returning unscripted hit “The Voice” as a lead-in and promotional help from the Super Bowl on NBC the night before. Steven Spielberg, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and David Marshall Grant are executive producers of “Smash,” which stars Debra Messing and Katherine McPhee.
