U.K.’s BSkyB grabs ‘Nurse Jackie’

Paybox outbids BBC in deal with CBS Studios Intl.

LONDON — U.K. paybox BSkyB has outbid the BBC for “Nurse Jackie” — just days after the satcaster confirmed it had acquired “Glee” from another U.K. pubcaster, Channel 4.

From season three onward “Nurse Jackie,” a cult hit for BBC2, will air on Sky Atlantic, the upstart channel that bowed in February.

BSkyB said it had secured exclusive free and basic U.K. TV rights for the edgy show in a deal with CBS Studios Intl.

Deal was concluded between Sky acquisitions topper Sarah Wright and Stephen Tague, senior VP Europe, CBS Studios International.
