Exec comes over from Comcast in run-up to launch of Lakers networks
Time Warner Cable’s TWC Sports has named Dan Finnerty as its senior vice president.
Finnerty will supervise business development for TWC Sports and lead affiliate sales and marketing efforts for TWC Sports Regional Networks, a key role as Time Warner prepares to launch its twin networks dedicated to the Los Angeles Lakers in time for the 2012-13 NBA season.
Finnerty comes to his new role after serving as Comcast Networks exec VP of network distribution and development.
“Dan is well known and highly respected in our industry,” said TWC Sports David Rone, to whom Finnerty will report. “He’s an innovative thinker, which will be critical to building the TWC Sports brand among consumers. He also has years of experience as a leader in securing broad distribution for regional sports networks and a true passion for sports. Through his strong relationships, he’ll be a key asset in growing our business. We’re very excited to have him on board.”
Finnerty’s hiring comes the same week that Mark Shuken was named SVP and g.m. of TWC Sports Regional Networks (Variety, July 6). Shuken will also report to Rone.
