The ladies of “Hot in Cleveland” will be sunning themselves on TV Land for another season.
The cabler has given its first original scripted laffer a 22-
episode order for a third season. The pickup comes as “Cleveland” nears the halfway point of its second season, which is airing in two parts — 10 segs in the winter and 12 more episodes that will run in mid-June.
Ensembler — starring Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick — has become a cornerstone of TV Land’s primetime sked. The Viacom-owned cabler is using it as a launch pad for new sitcoms.
“Cleveland” impressed for TV Land out of the box last year and has remained a strong draw so far in season two. Series is averaging 3.2 million viewers and a 2.0 in its target femme 25-54 demographic. White won a SAG award in January for her work on the show, which also nabbed a nom for best comedy ensemble.
Series hails from Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Prods. Creator Suzanne Martin exec produces with Hayes, Milliner and Lynda Obst.
