TNT nets Shaquille O’Neal

NBA star joins cabler as analyst

Shaquille O’Neal is joining the on-air team at Turner Sports.

The retired basketball star will become an analyst opposite Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley for all facets of TNT’s NBA coverage.

“Certainly for the past 19 years, Shaquille has been one of the most dominant and charismatic players in the NBA,” said David Levy, president of sales, distribution and sports for Turner Broadcasting System. “His larger-than-life personality will be the perfect complement to our award-winning ‘NBA on TNT’ studio team.”

The multi-year deal kicks in with the 2011-12 season.
