TLC has ordered eight episodes of “Pawn Queens.”
Cabler felt confident going forward with a series after a special episode in November drew 1.2 million viewers. New skein will launch at 10 p.m. on May 5. “Pawn Queens,” produced by Varuna TV, centers on a pair of businesswomen who run a Chicago-based pawn shop that caters to women. History has done big business in the genre. Las Vegas-based “Pawn Stars,” which began in July 2009, has been a ratings hit for the A&E-owned net.
