The CW shifts ‘Model’ to 9 p.m.

Unscripted series moves out of 'Idol" shadow

The CW is shifting “America’s Next Top Model” back an hour — and out of the way of “American Idol” — to 9 p.m. beginning April 20.

The move will put the catwalk competition series out of the line of fire from Fox’s “Idol,” which moved to the Wednesday 8 p.m. time slot this season. It will also get “Model” away from CBS’ “Survivor.”

Three weeks into its 16th cycle, “Model” is averaging 2.15 million total viewers, down 38% from last spring’s cycle. The veteran reality skein is also feeling the pain in its core 18-34 demo, down 29%.

Making way for “Model” is “Shedding For The Wedding,” which wraps up April 13. A rebroadcast of the previous week’s “Model” will be slotted at 8 p.m.
