Showtime series renewed for third season
The trio behind the Showtime series “The Big C,” which was just renewed for a third season, has sold a comedy script to NBC via Sony Pictures Television.
Writer-creator Darlene Hunt will reteam with “Big” producers Neal Moritz and Vivian Cannon of shingle Original Film & TV on an untitled project based on the Martin Kihn book “Bad Dog.” It’s about a guy who takes his wild and crazy dog to a trainer only to be told the dog is perfect but he’s a mess.
“Big” stars Laura Linney as a stage-four cancer patient trying to find humor in a desperate situation.
The cabler has ordered 10 episodes for a third season, with production set to begin early next year for a debut in the second quarter. The Sony skein also stars Oliver Platt.
