Cabler orders 13 segs of superhero drama from BermanBraun TV
NBCUniversal cabler Syfy has renewed superhero drama “Alphas” for a second season and increased the show’s episode order to 13 from 11.The series has averaged 3.3 million total viewers over its first eight episodes, according to Nielsen estimates, and ranks as the net’s top series in digital downloads. “Alphas” follows a clandestine cell of superpowered people from all walks of life, led by a psychiatrist (played by David Strathairn) who helps them to learn more about other Alphas and their own origins. Series leads include Malik Yoba, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanisada, Ryan Cartwright and Laura Mennell. The show, produced by Universal Cable Prods. and BermanBraun Television, was created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow.
