Second season of 10 episodes to air in 2012

Barely three weeks after its premiere, historical drama “The Borgias” has earned a 10-episode second season from Showtime.

Starring Jeremy Irons, “The Borgias” has outpaced the final season of Showtime ancestor “The Tudors” in viewership. Production will begin this summer on the second season with a 2012 premiere date targeted.

Neil Jordan will continue as exec producer as well as direct the first two episodes of season two. David Leland will also write several episodes and direct a pair.
