Showtime has ordered an eighth season of comedy series “Weeds.”
Lionsgate will go into production on another 13 episodes next year. Airdate has yet to be determined.
The fate of “Weeds” has been up in the air since the close of its seventh season, which was designed to serve as series finale in case Showtime topper David Nevins opted to discontinue the show.
All of the series stars are expected to return, including Mary-Louise Parker as the suburban mother turned marijuana dealer. Executive producer Jenji Kohan re-upped with Lionsgate last year.
“Weeds” is the premium cabler’s longest-running comedy.
