Shine inks deal with Absolutely Independent

First-look format pact covers Spain, Germany

News Corp.’s Shine has struck a first-look deal with Dutch format house Absolutely Independent for its continental European offshoots Shine Iberia and Shine Germany.

Shine Germany and Shine Iberia get access to Absolutely Independent’s catalog in their respective territories.

Shows include “The Singing Office,” sold to 22 countries; “Find My Family,” out in 12 countries including the U.S.; “The Exit List,” sold to 10 countries including the U.S.; and “The Phone,” playing in 15 countries.

Absolutely Independent, founded in 1996 by Patty Geneste, specializes in entertainment formats.

Shine said the company has sold more than 60 produced formats to clients in more than 50 countries.

A first-look deal between Shine and Zodiak Rights for Italy and Germany was reached last year.
