USA Network hit “White Collar,” Luc Besson and HBO’s “Transporter” series and James Cameron’s “Avatar” are some of the titles set to air on German web RTL in the 2011-12 season.
The broadcaster’s lineup is also heavy on inhouse productions, including new series, TV movies and entertainment formats.
“White Collar,” starring Matt Bomer, and “Transporter,” starring Chris Vance (“Prison Break”), which RTL is co-producing with HBO, HBO Canada and France’s M6, join hit returning series “House,” “CSI: Miami,” “Royal Pains,” “Bones” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”
Speaking at a presentation of the channel’s new shows in Cologne on Tuesday, RTL topper Anke Schaeferkordt said beating the record ratings of the past season wouldn’t be easy but added: “We want to go one better and in all genres.”
In addition to the free TV premiere of “Avatar,” RTL will present a slew of other blockbusters and high-profile pics, including “Clash of the Titans,” “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “The Wolfman,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” “Australia,” “Fame” and “Moby Dick,” with William Hurt and Charlie Cox.New in-house productions include TV disaster movie “Bermuda Triangle North Sea,” about an energy giant causing havoc along Germany’s northern coast and a helicopter pilot and a PR woman looking to uncover the truth.
RTL is also continuing its hit adventure movie series with “The Hunt for the Amber Room,” the follow-up to “The Charlemagne Code” and “The Spear of Destiny,” which reunites stars Kai Wiesinger, Bettina Zimmermann and Fabian Busch.
RTL is also introducing a new action series, “Die Draufgaenger,” about two mismatched Dresden cops who are also best pals despite being polar opposites.
