Road to the Emmys: Down to the Wire - The Parties

There is no downturn when it comes to parties surrounding the Emmy Awards.

From downtown Los Angeles to Century City, event planners are working spaces to their best advantage and prepping sinfully rich menus. Wine, liquor and beverage sponsors are lined up. Although guest lists may be tightened somewhat, industryites — particularly actor and actress nominees — shouldn’t waste much time before they book hair, makeup, stylists and limos.

Here’s a look at a healthy selection of the parties leading up to the Emmys:

CREATIVE ARTS BALL
When: Sept. 10, immediately following the Creative Arts Emmys
Where: West Hall, L.A. Convention Center
The scene: A 1960s mod decor and a black-and-white color scheme will transform the L.A. Convention Center into a sparkling ballroom. Sequoia Prods. will produce the mega-fete, the largest annual seated dinner in the U.S., and its identical twin, the Governors Ball, post-Primetime Emmys. Visual surprises abound at both editions: Performers will be encased within the mega-sized bars and suspended overhead for dramatic effect. Wait staff will be styled to match the evening’s visual theme. Patina Restaurant Group returns as the caterer, and the dinner menu features a seasonal salad of heirloom tomatoes, filet mignon with high-end mac and cheese and dessert that incorporates sponsor Duncan Hines’ ingredients. There’s no shortage of tie-ins and splashy decor. Consider “the Emmy”: a specially created vodka cocktail for the Governors Ball served at a bar decorated with a comely human model.
