Ovation cues ‘Dance’ runs

Arts cabler holds pre-upfront press conference

Ovation held its pre-upfront press conference at Gotham’s Core Club, right next to a Midtown East Ferrari dealership, to trumpet growth stats Wednesday ayem. The arts cabler also announced the off-network acquisition of “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Net plans to dress up the reruns with new content a la “American Idol: Rewind.” It will begin its run with seasons six and seven of the show, which will play weekends in three-hour blocks starting Aug. 5.

Ovation senior VP of programming and production Kris Slava said the net is in 43 million households and expects to pass the 50 million mark by the end of this year — a major milestone in the ad-buying world. Holdouts include Cox and Cablevision.
