‘Oprah’ repeats get name change

Talkshow set to debut on OWN Oct. 10

The “Oprah Winfrey Show” is coming back … sort of.

Repeats of Winfrey’s iconic talker will return to OWN Oct. 10. Retitled “Own Your Life (The Oprah Class),” the series will air at 8 p.m. weeknights, immediately following the cabler’s new talkshow “The Rosie Show,” starring Rosie O’Donnell.

Winfrey, who appeared at Friday’s Television Critics Assn. for the network’s sesh, said, “This is a dream come true for me, with this platform. … I want to embrace the idea of having the world’s biggest classroom.”

The iconic talkshow host said there would be 25 years worth of “Oprah” shows that would be rerun on OWN, repackaged and rehosted by herself.

OWN, off to a rough ratings start, has undergone an exec makeover. Winfrey named herself CEO and chief creative officer a few weeks ago following the dismissal of Christina Norman as network topper.

After Peter Liguori took the reigns for a few months on an interim basis, Erik Logan and Sheri Salata were named presidents. As part of the transistion, OWN will work more closely with Winfrey’s Harpo Studios in Chicago. Salata was formerly a producer on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and will remain in Chicago while Logan is based in Los Angeles.

“The Rosie Show,” which is currently in production, is being taped at Harpo and, like “Own Your Life,” will debut Oct. 10.

Said Winfrey of working every day in trying to lift OWN’s fortunes: “I’m in the office and listening in on budget and marketing meetings. We’re strategizing to make the network the one we know it can be.”
