Starz Worldwide Distribution will bring IFC’s “Onion News Network” to Cannes’ Mip TV mart next month.
The show joins other Starz-distribbed laffers such as “The Whitest Kids U Know,” “Z-Rock” and “Bollywood Hero.”
“People say comedy doesn’t travel overseas,” said Starz Worldwide Distribution exec VP Gene George, “but we’ve found that the right properties find a home with a surprisingly diverse range of audiences, and those properties tend to come from IFC.”
Known for its outlandish news spoofs, the “Onion News Network” has been a success on IFC in America since its Jan. 21 preem.
The 10-episode first season featured stories such as Kim Jong II shutting down North Korea’s nuclear program in exchange for a lead role in the next “Batman” film.

“Onion News Network” is executive produced by Will Graham, Julie Smith, Jim Biederman, Debbie DeMontreux, Christine Lubrano, Jennifer Caserta, and Evan Shapiro for IFC and is available in all territories.
For IFC, the deal was brokered by Laura Sher, senior veep of legal & business affairs. For Starz Media, the deal was brokered by George.
Mip runs April 4-7.
