Connie Britton was clearly aware that “Friday Night Lights” would be ending its Peacock run the day after she received her final nom for the show.
“This show has been so extraordinary and unique in every way,” said the actress. “We wrapped a year ago, then it finished on DirecTV and now NBC. I’ve been really fortunate to live out the long goodbye.”
She immediately shared congratulations with TV husband Kyle Chandler after hearing news. “We were both emotional about it,” she said.
And the skein, five years after launching, received one of the six slots for drama series, a long ways from nearly being canceled after its second season. To see it make that shortlist might have been the best prize of all.
“We’re just over the moon,” Britton said of seeing show being recognized by the TV Academy as one of smallscreen’s best programs, a viewpoint long shared by a passionate fan base.
